MUSE, Volume 4: A Celebration of Women at PublicHouse & beergarden

What does it mean to be called a ‘Muse”?
As a noun, it means a person — especially a woman — who is a source of artistic inspiration. It seems like the perfect word to encompass this Annual Celebration of Women.

March 8 has been recognized as International Women’s Day since the early 1900’s. International Women's Day celebrates women's achievements in the workplace, and we’ve teamed up with beergarden to amplify and acknowledge the inspirational women in our lives, behind our pubs, creating our beer & spirits, feeding us and… performing on our stage.

Live Musical Performances: Prior to 1900 and even after, it was expected that women would perform music, not make music. Singing was something of an acceptable pastime for a girl, but playing an instrument….?! Writing songs? Producing records? It wasn’t a thing and, for the most part, women didn’t think of themselves as creators of music. So much has changed. So much will continue to change. Both pubs will be showcasing women-led performances and events throughout the four days, including:

  • Thursday, March 5: beergarden Live Music with Connectarine, 7pm

  • Friday, March 6: PublicHouse Live Music with Complicated, 7pm

  • Saturday, March 7: beergarden Live Music with Maya Vagner, 6pm and Acoustic Minds, 7:30pm

  • Sunday, March 8: PublicHouse Paint N Sip with Sierra, 12-2pm

  • Sunday, March 8: PublicHouse Live Music with Pants with Pockets, 3:30pm

From the BeerHall: We’ll be featuring a handful of beers we have on draft from women-led brew teams, including:

  • UPP Liquids’ (Tonya Cornett, lead brewer)

    • Pre Glow Kolsch

    • Blood Orange IPA

    • Yuzu & Ginger Tart Ale

  • Grand Fir’s (Whitney Burnside, head brewer / owner)

    • Ponga IPA, west coast IPA

    • Summerfield Wheat Beer

    • Pale Rider Italian Pilsner

  • Wayfinder’s (Natalie Rose Baldwin, head brewer)

    • No Gods, No Masters Lager

    • Mourning Rituals Dry Irish Stout

    • Flower in the Kettle Hazy IPA

  • Calapooia’s Turkish Coffee Stout (Danielle Raiche, head brewer & Caitlin Prueitt, co-owner)

  • Heater Allen’s Pilsner (Lisa Allen, head brewer)

Honor the roots of Rock and Roll. Make people dance. That’s Daddy Rabbit! We are stoked to have these guys join our Inaugural Burger Week.

50's and 60's Rock and Roll, original and covers. Influences include Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Stones, Beatles, Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, Fats Domino, CCR, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon. Members, Rob Jacobs, Kasey Rajkovic and Josh Swearengin.

Started in August of 2013 by Robert Jacobs, Daddy Rabbit has been playing 50’s and 60’s rock with a little blues, honky-tonk and rockabilly thrown in for good measure in the Eugene area since then. The band, consisting of Jacobs on guitar and vocals, Marty Garber on bass and Steve Wright on drums plays the songs you will sing along to by Carl Perkins, Elvis, Jimmy Reed or CCR, plus lots of hidden gems from that era.

Daddy Rabbit released their first CD, “Shake Like a Tree”, in April 2015 consisting of 16 original tunes in the genre of early rock. All the songs are written by Jacobs and arranged by the band. You will be hard pressed to tell which are originals and which are covers when you are out there on the dance floor or just snapping your fingers to the music.
