Annual Truffle Week at PublicHouse

  • PublicHouse 418 A Street Springfield, OR, 97477 United States (map)

Truffles… maybe you’ve heard of them! Truffles are a form of fungus that grow underground with tree roots. Oregon is home to 4 native truffle species, and they are widely celebrated in February because it's the traditional time for the truffle harvest season. Truffle Harvesting is usually during the rainier months in Oregon, and the climate in the Valley is ideal for growing truffles because of the cool temperatures, steady rainfall and shady forests. As a matter of fact, in 2024, thanks for the dedication of The Oregon Truffle Festival, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek designated February as Oregon Truffle Month.

The Oregon Truffle Festival (OTF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and one of the country’s most esteemed culinary events. Devoted to Oregon’s native truffles and the burgeoning cultivation of European truffles in the state, the festival has been featured in Departures, the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The New York Times, Saveur, and National Geographic, among others. In 2020, OTF was voted the #5 Specialty Food Festival in the country by readers of USA Today. (oregontrufflefestival.org)

Truffles are a sought-after ingredient for chefs, and the chefs at PublicHouse have requested an event that is truffle-centric! This is the VERY REASON why we’ve decided to make it a celebration! Truffles are a versatile ingredient that can be used in many ways, including: Truffle cheese and charcuterie plates, Truffle bread, Truffle butter, Truffle-inspired dishes, and even Truffle stouts.

FOOD: Each kitchen at PublicHouse is going to feature truffles throughout the week, and we are chompin’ at the bit to find out what dishes they will be preparing. AND— as an added bonus, you’ll receive a raffle ticket with each truffle dish you try. Hand the tickets into the bartender to be entered into the Truffle 26 Raffle. Stay tuned for all of the tasty creations you can expect.

BEVERAGES: The BeerHall and Whiskey Lab crews are planning a couple of drink specials as well so make sure to check out their offerings and recommendations for truffle beverage pairings.
