Anthony Mc Carthy live at PublicHouse

Anthony McCarthy hails from the beautiful Pacific Northwest calling Portland, Oregon home. Anthony brings with him the astonishing ability to touch the hearts of his listeners. This singer/songwriter plays acoustic guitar and piano, playing a mix of soulful, folky, pop-rock offerings with poignant melodies and heartfelt lyrics.

After years of passing around independent demo CD’s and gaining momentum as an artist, McCarthy is now out promoting his first studio album ‘Just a Dream’ with a new album in the making. Work with his band The Rhythm Pimps will also continue into next year.

McCarthy finds music as a companion. Something to supply fortitude when times are rough, and as a mode of rejoicing when things are looking better. His fans are able to find the same gifts in his music. Thanks to his keen understanding of music and his talented ability to translate his emotions into powerful songs. “Music has carried me over some very difficult times in my life. Sometimes it seemed like music was the only thing that kept my head above water while I was feeling depressed. Music makes me feel many things and many ways. Music can soothe me, make me cry, give me goose bumps, make me laugh, make me happy and ecstatic, even.” McCarthy’s fans can say the same thing about his music.

Music is cathartic, a source of release. McCarthy imbues each of his songs with this ability, providing a salve to the soul for listeners. “Good music should affect the soul and create catharsis within. I write music that I personally would enjoy as a listener.” And by holding himself to a high standard of emotional honesty and by sticking to his artistic guns, McCarthy has found a musical voice that will distinguish itself from those around it.

“Anthony McCarthy writes songs with real emotional impact, songs that leave you thinking, and feeling …” – A&R Select

Anthony’s NEW ALBUM ‘Just a Dream’ can be downloaded and streamed entirely at

Elena Leona Project... live at PublicHouse

(THE E.L.P) is sizzle, spice and everything nice. Like the lovechild of Lauren Hill and Etta James, this project is funky. THE E.L.P started in Eugene and has been performing at local venues for a few years. The project has undergone several makeovers since the beginning. Contagiously excitable, Leona’s personality shines through in her amazing vocal control. In the length of one song, she’ll go from rap to velvety vocals, to jazz scat and belting out downright incredible notes… “The sound is urban groove,” Leona says, “a sound that is something for everyone”.

Dennis Smith & Peter Giri.... live at PublicHouse

Dennis Smith songs cut to the core of life's experiences. He's been writing and performing for thirty odd years now. A self proclaimed obscure artist, Dennis lives and writes his music in the backwoods of Fall Creek, Oregon. He's never been infatuated with fame, only the joy of exciting performance and a legacy of memorable tunes.

Peter Giri’s musical career began as a member of Cowboy, (under his real name, Pete Kowalke), a Southern country rock band signed to the legendary Capricorn Records. Known for heartfelt lyrics and amazing harmonies, Cowboy has often been credited with originating the sound later adopted by the Eagles and Poco. The band toured with the Allman Brothers on the East Coast for two years while gaining a devoted following nationwide.

Since then, Peter has mellowed into a gifted songwriter and performer in his own right, whether performing solo or with his band. Peter is also known as a masterful interpreter of others’ songs—and these interpretations are never just “covers.” You’re never going to hear the same old song you’ve heard many times before. He makes each song, from Dylan to Little Feat to Hendrix and more, his own, with variations of rhythm, vocals, and melody that bring them new life. Listeners often comment, when hearing him play a song by another artist, “He does that better than the original!”

These 2 musicians play with many of the local legends . They will be playing as a duo on the 7th.

Paul Biondi & friends... live at PublicHouse

We know him as the man who plays 2 saxophones at the same time. The local blues legend here in Eugene. Here’s a little more about Mr. Paul Biondi.

Paul was born in Philadelphia in 1957. His older brother Fred, who is a professional jazz drummer, motivated Paul to study and perform music at a very young age – he first picked up a saxophone at the age of 8. Paul’s teacher and mentor was Robert “Boysie” Lowery, who taught and motivated players such as Clifford Brown, Ernie Watts, and many other jazz musicians on the east coast. While Paul was still in high school, he performed in jazz bands, studio sessions, and orchestras such as Valley Forge Music Fair. He has backed up such artists as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, Ray Charles, and Lena Horne. Before graduating from high school, he studied at Berklee School of Music in Boston. more…

Dorian Michael... live at PublicHouse

Dorian Michael started playing guitar as a seven-year old in Los Angeles just as folk music was about to have a renaissance of sorts and earthy acoustic music was his first guitar experience. He has been a working guitarist for four decades and in that time has played plenty of blues and folk, jazz and rock and roll. There has always been a huge variety of playing experience from smokey honky-tonks to theater orchestra pits. At some point along the way he started playing a few solo fingerstyle instrumentals, made a cd and decided he needed to hit the road and see if he could sell all those cds he had. Three solo cds and four ensemble cds later Dorian is still playing throughout the States and Canada. He calls his solo music “contemporary traditional”; original music that reflects his interest in a number of styles of music. These influences come through in his original material, but it is a contemporary music that grows from, rather than mimics, those influences. When he plays someone else’s music or a traditional piece he always manages to add a few surprises. Says Dorian, “Some music makes you feel, some makes you think and some music is just for the fun of it. I try to get to all those places in the space of a performance.”

Then Huck Mulligan and Beth Milton joined JD in song. Hearing this moving melody, Steve Ivy fashioned a single-string bass out of a broom handle, a wash tub and some beard hair. Jackson Breitbach made a fiddle and bow out of a cigar box, horse hair and a deer antler. And Cletis Reaves built a pedal steel guitar (minus the pedal) out of a 2×4, nails and fishing line.

Holus Bolus means ‘All At Once’.  Holus Bolus is one person, multi-instrumentalist Tom Boylan.  Referrred to as the "One-Man-Psychedelic-Acousti-loop" artist, Holus Bolus is the modern take on what a one-man-band is in this day and age.  Outfitted with a small drum-kit and an acoustic guitar with some foot pedals, Holus Bolus builds songs one layer at a time, coalescing into one sound that’s acoustic-psychedelic groove-rock.  “It’s like a philosopher-juggler….you throw up one ball at a time until you get a good thing going, then vocalize about life, love, aliens, and existence….all at once”, says Tom.   …more
